MANAGERS RESOURCES
OVERVIEW
The Team Manager is an important position in making sure the administrative tasks and requirements for teams from Hockey Quebec, Hockey Lac St-Louis and Lakeshore Hockey are followed.
One of the main tasks will be to manage the team bank account for the season, a co-signee will be required, and can help with the other task as well. The team manager is also responsible for the team budget which entails collecting player contributions to team budget and paying expenses.
Note that to open a bank account for a sports team banks will ask for an authorization letter. The letter can be requested by sending an Email to angelo.palucci@gmail.com
Other tasks may include but not limited to, depending on Head Coach preference.
- Manage Team Binder used in Tournaments and Playoffs.
- T112 (Issued by Lakeshore office and signed by all team members)
- Game scoresheets (pink copy) for league, exhibition, tournament and playoffs games played
- Printout of season games schedule, played and non played, from league site
- Manage jerseys distribution at beginning of season and collect at end of season
- Prepare team line-up stickers for game scoresheet
- Prepare home game scoresheet
- Report home game results on league website, applies to single and double letter teams
- Send home game scoresheet (white and green copy) to Lac St-Louis regional office (AA-BB Only)
MANAGER PREREQUISITES
To volunteer for manager position, the person cannot be immediately related to any of the team coaches, which precludes that coaches cannot be team managers. This is done in order to avoid any grievance raised in context of team budget management. The same applies to co-signee of the team bank account.
Important to note that anyone whishing to be involved with minor hockey teams have complete two prerequisites. The first having enrolled and completed the Respect in Sport on-line course.
The second one will be to have a police background check completed in person at the LMHF office once you have officially been approved. Lakeshore Minor Hockey has a very strict policy for background checks of all its volunteers. All coaches, assistant coaches, managers and team personnel are required to fill in a police background verification form. Everyone must complete a Lakeshore Hockey verification form.
TEAM BUDGET
All team budgets should normally be presented at a parents meeting and are approved with a simple majority by those parents on that team. Individuals cannot opt out of team budgets or portions of the expenses. The meeting needs to be held before the first game of the season to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts that would cause grievances requiring involvement of LMHF board members.
SAMPLE TEAM PARENTS MEETING AGENDA
There shall be NO renumeration fees in the team budget allocated for volunteer coaches, managers or direct team staff.
IMPORTANT: Team budget for any division and class are payable to the team bank account name and is independent of the Lakeshore Minor Hockey Federation (LMHF) financial operating budget. LMHF cannot be held responsible for members contribution to a team budget and covering those fees.
Single Letter Budget
In the case of Single letters there is usually an additional team fee of approximately $350-$600 depending on the program offered by that particular team (extra ice-time, tournaments, activities, etc). The maximum out of pocket amount permissible is $700 per player and any additional amount must be obtained through fundraising by the team as per Lakeshore’s Policy Manual.
Double Letter Budget
In the case of Double letters there is usually an additional team fee of approximately $900- $1600 depending on the program offered by that particular team (extra ice-time, tournaments, activities, etc). The maximum out of pocket amount permissible is $1,400 per player and any additional amount must be obtained through fundraising by the team as per Lakeshore’s Policy Manual. Since the Double letter program is a more intense program, they do pay a higher fee.
